Handball: Sheila Agonzibwa Retains UHF Top Seat, Reveals Her Starting Point
Sheila Agonzibwa Richardson retained her seat as the Uganda Handball Federation President after going through unopposed in the federation’s elections held today at Uganda Olympic committee head offices in Lugogo.
Her, Vice president administration, Balenzi Fredrick Eric, Vice president Technical, Mayanja Willy, General Secretary, Mugalu Augustine, federation’s PRC Mujuzi Francis, Promotion and Marketing, Were Johnson go through unopposed. Not forgetting Aziz Yakoub and Musoke Dan who also got no opposition as Players’ committee leader and COC respectively.
The Assistant general secretary, Treasurer and CCM were the positions that got more than one contestants.
And according to the elections results from those three posts, Kasule Vincent beat Bazanye Ismail Ali with 31 votes to 15, for the former to be announced the new assistant general secretary.
The treasurer’s post won by Karibwije Daniel who garnered 31 votes while his competitor, Muhumuza Rodrick collected 15 votes and the one counted as an invalid vote.
The CCM post was taken by Orofin Jimmy Remmie who got 31 votes while he’s fellow contestant, Oyeng Bernard Opoka went away with 16 votes.
After being given the mandate and her new executive to guide the federation in the next four years, Sheila revealed what they are immediately starting with and that is the amendment of the constitution.
“When we had our last AGM, we selected a committee which is going to look into our constitution and this is what we are starting with, Our constitution has a lot of loopholes.”Agonzibwa said.
“When you don’t have a proper constitution, you get lost, so we shall seek help of UOC, NCS such that we come up with a solid document.” She added.
The president also asserted that in this new term they are going to put much emphasis on taking the sport to districts and schools such that they expose the sport and tape the talents from Schools.
She also hinted on taking beach handball very serious beach it isn’t expensive and they are on final stages of constructing a handball stadium at Nkajja Handball club home.
She didn’t let out the issue of getting partners and sponsors to their activities especially league, National and international tournaments.
About the league commencement, the newly elected president said that the calender is already out but they can’t start the competition because of stringent SOPs of COVID-19 and of yet the clubs can not fulfill them, so they are going to be with small competitions to keep their players fit until the government loosen on the restrictions.
