FWSL: Kampala Queens Need Less Than Two Points to Celebrate Maiden League Trophy

Kampala Queens will need one point in the their next match as they play host UCU Lady Cardinals a week after next weekend to win the 2022/23 season trophy and the first in club’s history since 2016.
This follows the club’s 1-0 important win over Uganda Martyrs WFC on 11th March 2023 at St Gerald Stadium in Lubaga.
Shamirah Nalugya scored the only goal for Magogo’s owned club, the goal came in the 20th minute.
Shamirah Nalugya benefited from the corner which was brought in by Margret Kunihira ,which found Resty Nanziri in the right place but was denied by the wood work but Nalugya was able to head the ball past Sharon Kaidu in the rebound.
The Victory took the Kabojja based side to 37 points from 13 games ensuring the team’s return to wining ways after sharing points with Makerere University last weekend. This means in last six/five games to end the season, Kampala Queens needs only a point in their next game against UCU.
Uganda Martyrs will remain to regret having created many chances but failed to convert any of them in the whole game to earn themselves a point.
The Kiddawalime girls had the first chance of the game landing on Nakasi Latifa who tried shooting from far but denied by the custodian Daisy Nakaziro.
The best and last chance of the game came in last two minutes of game ,when Sumaya Nalumu did shoot from long range but Daisy Nakaziro exhibited her experience when she made rarely seen save in women football to deny an equalizer for the hosts.
The hosts remained second on the log with 22 points
In Mukono , UCU Lady Cardinals subjected She Corporate to their second consecutive loss of the season with a 1-0 win. UCU’S goal came from Jovia Nakagolo in the last two minutes of the game.
In Masindi ,Rines SS WFC moved to Fifteen points after sharing points with the hosts Lady Doves in a one all draw at Katushabe stadium.
