FWSL: Esther Nangendo, Nandago Punish Doves As Kawempe Call It a Season At Home
New blood, Esther Nangendo and Hadija Nandago were on target on the day as Kawempe Muslim Ladies climax home fixture with a 2-0 victory against Lady Doves on Tuesday evening at Kawempe Valley.
The one for the future, and talented left forward, Esther Nangendo came off the bench to win Kawempe a game against resilient Lady Doves, the side that never had the league’s top scorer, Fazila Ikwaput on pitch.
Nangendo replaced Rhoda Nanziri in the 74th minute, she needed only six minutes on pitch to land on an opportunity to unlock the deadlocks with a super free kick from the right flank.
She put the ball at the near post to find the back of the net and send Kawempe fans into rare celebration at home in the 80th minute.
Her introduction on the pitch and Dorcus Kisakye added attacking options for Kawempe Muslim.
In the two added minutes, Hadija Nandago released Nangendo who brilliantly put off the Doves’ defender to lay the teasing pass into the box, goalie, Rose Bamaniriza failed to handle but to gift the ball to Nandago to complete the move with a simple rebound.
“It was really nice, coming off the bench and display my talent, and again deliver, it’s good. And the second win at home gave us much confidence also to win our next game in Soroti. ” Said Esther Nangendo.
To describe how bad their campaign was this season, Kawempe secured only ten points at home the worst performance for Kawempe ever and the tactician, Moses Nkata accepted that they really had unpleasant season but all came after a number of challenges, like the abrupt departure of Margret Kunihira, Sharon Nadunga injury at the start of the season and poor goalkeeping.
“The much believe the public had in us before the start of the season, I believe they put much pressure unto the girls and most of them are new in the league, also the players that we expected to stand in the gap, like Sharon Nadunga had injury at the start of the season, this alot affected her performance, even when she returned, she didn’t give what we expected from her.”
” The departure of Margret Kunihira was also part because were not prepared for it, we never had a replacement for her, that why we had challenges upfront.
Also our goalkeeping department didnt work well, we conceded a number of goals coming from goalkeepers’ mistakes.”
But again we are going to work upon that, we have a crop of good players, few you see here. Next season we are preparing to compete.” Nkata explained.
Kawempe Muslim has only one game like other clubs in the league to call it a season and they finish it on road, on Friday as they visit Olila High School in Soroti.
