FUFA Women Super League: Super Sub, Nyakato Ruth Strikes Late As Newbies Shock Makerere

Nyakato Ruth only goal earned newbies Tooro Queens a surprise win against Makerere University in the afternoon encounter held at Njeru Technical Center.

Nyakato Ruth who came off the bench, replacing defender Kempango Sylvia in the 85th minute scored a beauty in the dying minutes to earn  the Country Queens a maiden three points in Women Super League.

Nyakato caught Makerere on the blind side and easily tapped home from Imelda Kasemire’s lay-up.

The result came as a shock to Intellectuals because they had all it takes to win the game even in the first 45 minutes, but they were too blunt and were ready to settle for a goal less draw.

Josephine Ndagire, Nakamatte Samalie, Namatovu Sharon and Aminah Nababi all had efforts on target but converted none.

Ayesiga Rogers coached side registered their first win in the first game, this put them in third position behind Kawempe Muslim Ladies, who also have three points in two games.

Makerere lost their second consecutive game in the group, which put them in a tough situation ahead of their third fixture against Kawempe Muslim Ladies on Friday. 

The result means, Makerere need to win their two remaining games against Kawempe and Kampala Queens.

Tomorrow Tooro Queens will be hosting Kawempe Muslim at 9am, the game likely to be hard for them.

Earlier in the day, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC beat Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC a goal to none.
