Fortebet Real Stars Monthly Award: Oyella Beats Jessica Achan, Nalwanja on May Accolade

She Cranes and National Insurance Corporation Netball Club Shooter, Stella Oyella  named the best netball player of the month of May by Real Stars Sports Agency.

Oyella who was the East Africa Netball Championship top scorer with 244 goals, beat the KCCA defender, Shaffie Nalwanja and Prison Netball Club mid court player and the 2022 East Africa Netball championship Most Valuable Player, Jessica Achan.

These Monthly Awards organized by Real Stars sports Agency are proudly sponsored by Jude Colour Solutions, Fortebet Uganda and Canaan Investments.

Oyella became the third netball player to win the Fortebet Accolade in since Joan Nampungu last won it in March 2021, Meeme Ruth was the second and hers came in November 2021. Netball is a rare discipline in these awards.

Oyella revealed that, the award is a motivational factor to her especially when is fighting to make it to the final cut of the She Cranes team that will travel to England late next month for Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022.

“I am very grateful that I won this award because it’s not easy, but it has motivated me to work even more hard to see that I make it to the final list of 12 who are going to Birmingham. I know very well that their are many younger good players who are playing my position but as a player, I need to work hard to see that I maintain my position.” Oyella 

In other disciplines, 

Fazila Ikwaput who scored ten goals in the month of May while still in the league, beats Hasifah Nassuna of UCU Lady Cardinals and Vipers’ Bobosi Byaruhanga  in football category.

In Athletics, youngerster Victor Chelotich who won bronze and sliver medals in Normandya International school games.

Cricket:

Janet Mbabazi of Victoria pearls walked away with the May.

Basketball:

James Okello of City Oilers won the basketball award.
