Fortebet Real Star Monthly Awards: Even Covid Can’t Stop this, The Nominees of July Revealed

The month of July, the nation has been totally in lockdown and almost 95% of activities, sports inclusive have been on standstill for the last 42 days.

However, Covid could not afford to stop some sports disciplines to have activities especially outside the country, basing that seriousness, the Real Stars in conjunction with their main sponsor, Fortebet Uganda, partners, Canaan Investments and Jude Color Solutions came out to award the best of Month of July.

Four disciplines have been considered and twelve athletes were nominated, the award winners will be identified on Monday, 02nd August 2021 at the event which will be held virtually.

The sports disciplines include; Motorsport, Basketball, Rugby and Athletics.

Chepetegei who won silver [10000m] in the ongoing Olympic games in Tokyo Japan, Jacob Kiplimo who has bronze medal in the same race and Winnie Nanyondo who missed out on the Women’s 800m final despite comfortably qualifying to the semis in earlier heats are the three fighting for the gong of the month of July.

In Basketball, the nominees have been picked from the Silverbacks team that beat Morocco 77-65 on Thursday, July 8 to qualify for Afrobasket.

Arthur Kaluma who scored a team high 20 points on an historical night will be the favourite ahead of Eric Rwahire and Ishmail Wainright.

Adrian Kasiito whose best highlight came as Uganda beat Ghana where he scored 13 points (five conversations and one penalty) in Rugby Africa Cup at Kyadondo, headlines the nominees for the best Rugby player alongside two Lady Rugby Cranes stars – Captain Peace Lekuru and Faith Namugga

The Crew of Yassin Nasser and Ali Katumba will just show up to pick their award for best Rally Driver (crew) after going unopposed in their category.

The Moil-sponsored crew were the only team to represent Uganda at the World Rally Championship event in kenya last month.
