Food For The Hungry Donates Over 600M Worth Medical Supplies to MoH
Food for the Hungry in conjunction with Vitamin Angels donated medical supplies to Ministry of Health, worth $182500 equivalent to 637,600,000 Uganda shillings.
Among the medial supplies, Food for Hungry an organization that deal with the eradication of all forms of human poverty, handed over to Ministry of Health at ministry headquarters in Kampala is Albendazole of 400mg and they handed over 3.1 millions doses worth 473,600,000 Uganda shillings.
Harriet Aloyo Nyeko, the Business Development Manager of Food for The Hungry Uganda said that as an organization, they are aware of challenges government especially Ministry of Health such as shortage of supplies for the Child Health Days.
“…aware of challenges faced by the government of Uganda especially ministry of health such as shortage of supplies for child health days, limited capacity and finance to carry out the social mobilisation and monitoring of outreach programs.” Aloyo said while handing over the medical supplies.
State Minister for Primary Health Care, Hon. Joyce M Kadukyu thanked the organization for passing through right path in donating to Ugandans.
“We are really humbled and gratitude to receive these donations that have passed through the right channel.” Minister said before adding. “And we want to assure you that whatever you given in our hands we are going to use them in the right direction and every medicine you have given is going to be accounted for.”
So far the donation from Food for the Hungry have arrived but the 5.4 million doses of multi vitamins for pregnant women worth $54500 (164,000,000) from Vitamin Angel are still on their way and they promised that immediately they arrive in Uganda, they will be handing them over to ministry as Violet Birungi Mukisa, the Health and Nutrition specialist from FH Uganda explaining to this website.
“Vitamin A capsules 1.2 million doses of 200000i.u and 700000 doses of 100000i.u from Vitamin Angels are still on the way FH Uganda will deliver these to Ministry of Health as soon as its cleared and they are to benefit all children in Uganda.” Birungi said.
