The former champions, She Corporate FC started a a right foot with a 1-0 victory over Uganda Martyrs HS WFC.
Upon their return in the Finance Trust Women Super league, the Nakawa based club started well with collecting three points on road.
Whisper Alomo scored the important goal for Sheffield Corporate FC on Saturday at NEC grounds Bugolobi.
Her goal came as early as five minutes into the first stanza, she had a cool tap in, thanks to Jessica Namanda who did the whole donkey work before squaring the ball in the opponent’s box for Whisper to calmly finish the job.
The visitors had the chance to double the lead, three minutes later but the would be goal was cleared off the goal line by Martyrs defender.
The hosts later settled in the game but they looked too blunt before the goal mouth, with their goal poacher, Latifa Nakasi failing to kill off the debate on at least three consecutive attempts in the last 15 minutes of the first half, not forgetting Brendah Munyana who also had two clear opportunities.
The former Asubo Ladies FC forward cum defender upon joining She Corporate, Anitah Arinda had a busy day the whole of the match, on many occasions winning both the ground and aerial duels.
In the last ten minutes of the game, Nakasi again had two chances at least to salvage a point for her side but she was denied by woodwork and Moreen, She Corporate custodian who was eventually named the player of the match.
The win makes She Corporate FC a joint table leader with the other newcomer, Amus College WFC who beat the league returnees, Olila High School WFC 1-0. Tamisi Shafiga scored the only for Amus.
Another newly promoted side in FC Tooro Queens collected a point from former champions Lady Doves FC in Masindi following a 1-1 draw.
Kasemire Imelda gave the visitors the lead before Kobusobozi Resty equalized for the hosts.
The defending champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC will begin their title defense tomorrow against Rines SS WFC in Kawempe.
In the other game, Makerere University WFC will host She Maroons at Makerere University Grounds on Sunday.
