FEASSA Games | Netball: Kawanda Eliminates St Noa as Kitende Hits Buddo Hard again

Kawanda SS 37-36 St Noa Girls School
St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende 51-32 Buddo SS
The Wakiso district based school, Kawanda SS stormed their maiden East Africa Schools championship final after eliminating youthful St Noa Girls School Zzana.
The side has set a final against the tournament’s untouchables, St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende.
Kawanda SS beat St Noa Girls 37-36 in the semifinal one of the 2024 FEASSA Games held on Sunday at Bukedea Primary School grounds.
The 2018 champions had the lead in the first two quarters, winning 10-09 and 09-06 to have a first half of 19-15 in St Noa’s favor. However, in the third quarter, determination and resilient Kawanda SS turned the tables around, coming from a four goal defeat to leading the game 27-24 at the third quarter break.
The side maintained their lead until winning the game at the difference of one goal.
Kasewa Fidah, Kawanda SS skipper leaned their victory to the determination and confidence they came with in the tournament plus the support from the technical team and administrative wing.
“We got the win just because of hard work and the push factor unto the coaches, because if they were not with us, we couldn’t make it to the final. I thank my team for the work done, the determination they had and we hope to get the best, we came here to compete and to win the trophy.” Said Kasewa Fidah, captain Kawanda SS.
Charles Sserugga side is facing the defending champions, St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende tomorrow (Monday).
Kitende comfortably humbled Buddo SS with a margin of 19 goals in the second semifinal held on the same day at Bukedea Primary School.
Like they did in the USSSA final, Kitende again dominated the play from the first to the last quarter and finally won the match 51-32 to reach their other final
Semi-final.
Meanwhile in football boys, St Mary’s Kitende beat Kenya’s side, Musingu High School 1-0 thanks to the lone strike from Tumwesigye Farouq, Amus College beat their rivals, Bukedea Comprehensive School 2-0 to set a repeat of last year, Kitende vs Amus College.
In girls football, St Noa Girls School beat Amus College 2-1 on the semifinal.
The tournament is climaxing tomorrow (Monday) with all the final to be played on that day.
