FAU Takes Futsal Development Drive to Pader District
With initiatives like these, FAU continues to position futsal not just as a sport, but as a vehicle for youth empowerment and community development.

The Futsal Association of Uganda (FAU), the national governing body of futsal and an associate member of FUFA since 2019, has stepped up its efforts to promote the fast-growing game across the country.
Over the weekend, FAU’s Youth Development Officer Jude Katende and Coach Dorothy Namugenyi travelled to Pader District at the invitation of Hon. Santa Okot, the area Member of Parliament. The mission was to mentor parish teams and sensitize them about the benefits of futsal and football in general.
During their visit, the duo conducted interactive sessions with both boys’ and girls’ teams, emphasizing how futsal can sharpen players’ technical skills, decision-making, and overall growth. They also engaged with village chiefs, encouraging the use of sport as a tool to keep young people active and away from destructive habits such as drugs and alcohol.
In addition, FAU donated 12 pairs of boots and a new jersey to RedBull Adar FC, a local team competing in regional football, to support the club’s growth and inspire more participation in organized sport.
“We believe futsal can be a powerful tool to nurture talent and transform communities. This is just the beginning for Pader,” said Jude Katende.
Looking ahead, FAU announced plans to return to the district to organize competitions among divisions and establish a futsal girls’ team, giving young female athletes a platform to shine in the sport.
This outreach is part of FAU’s wider strategy to spread futsal beyond Kampala and other urban centers, ensuring that communities in rural areas also benefit from the opportunities the game presents.
