Don’t Paint Bad Image to our Country, Sort Your Issues Internally, Uganda Law Society Advises Third Arm of Gov’t

Kampala: The Uganda Law Society (ULS), an organization that advises government and Public on legal matters came out and gave their thoughts and advise on an ugly actions transpired in the Supreme Court last week.

The organization is saying that Last week’s drama in court painted a bad image of the judiciary to the outside world and to the Citizens of the land.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Society’s President Pheona Nabasa Wall, stated that such acts could easily be avoided by both sides.

The Judiciary is the third arm of the government and center of arbitration with the Supreme Court the highest appellate court, a high level of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality is expected at the court” Wall said.

Wall went ahead to say that it was so wise for the judges to follow their professional code of conduct.

The judicial code of conduct requires all judicial officers to be of upright character and ensure that their conduct is above reproach in the view of a reasonable fair minded and informed person” Wall added.

It should be remembered that last week drama when the Justice Esther Kisakye accused Chief Justice Alfonso Owiny Dollo of confiscating her file before she read her minority ruling on Kyagulanyi’s withdrawn petition that was challenging president Museveni’s win in the general elections.

As if that was not enough, drama carried on when the public address system and lights were switched off as Justice Kisakye proceeded to address the press before she was locked out of the Court premises the following day.

Before the Law Society came out to comment on the matter, a number of Politicians, activists and lame man Ugandans displayed Their dissatisfaction from the Judiciary especially the Chief Justice Owiny Dollo for conducting himself as un professional and Learned senior citizen.
