Daisy Nakaziro displayed an outstanding performance in the second fixture of her side, Lady Doves in the CAF Women’s Champions League zonal qualifiers underway in Kenya.

Not like their opening fixture in the tournament where they easily sailed past the Djibouti Armed Forces side, the Tuesday Evening fixture had been a tough one for the Uganda representatives against Simba Queens.

The skipper as well as custodian, Daisy Nakaziro had to pullout her best performance for the ten-man Lady Doves FC to secure a vital point in a barren draw against tough Simba Queens.

Almost 60% of the ball possession had been in the hands of Habub Ali Omar coached side and through their attacking trio, they have been a threat to Lady Doves FC that had to be vigilant for the entire 90 minutes.

Daisy Nakaziro, who was named the best goalkeeper in the Local league last season, expressed the leadership skills and acted as an example, on the day the skipper made at least three classic saves that kept Doves in the game.

For the last 15 minutes, Doves had to play with a woman down, Sarah Nakuya with a second bookable offense, she was given matching orders off the pitch.

This gave Simba confidence that they can secure maximum points to book a slot at semifinals, however Daisy Nakaziro could not allow that to happen.

She made at least two saves against danger lady, Mawete Musolo and the most exceptional one came in the four added minutes into second half.

Lady Doves also had at least two best chances in the game especially in second half but Fazila Ikwaput and Norah Alupo efforts hit to pole and crossbar respectively.

Nakaziro after the game at Kasarani Stadium had this to comment about her amazing performance.

It good that I have kept another clean sheet, we came in the game knowing that we are playing against tough side, so we had to have our heads up and mostly to play as a team. ”

Fred Musiime, the club’s tactician lauded Nakaziro for the performance.

She is our Captain, acted as a leader and it’s a blessing to have her. She lifted the team to see that we get a point.

“We are now planning for the last game in group to see that we win it.” Musiime.

Lady Doves will be honoring their last group A fixture on 3rd September and a win books them a slot in semifinals.
