CAF African School Championship: Kawempe Muslim Takes Dominance to the Continent, they’re a step Away from Winning Big Dollars

The Uganda’s women football powerhouse, Kawempe Muslim SS have taken their dominance at the continent and they are only one step away from seating in money bracket of USD300,000 and USD200,000 prize.
Kawempe had a slow start in the ongoing CAF African School Championship in Zanzibar but the Ayub Khalifa girls pulled up the Ugandan technique and won their last two group stage fixtures to propel to the semifinals.
The Kawempe Division based school started with a one all stalemate against South African representative and that was at the opening day on Tuesday.
However, the side won it’s last two group stage games played on Wednesday morning and mid morning beating Togo and Gambia respectively.
In the first fixture, Kawempe Muslim (Uganda) beat Togo representative, 2-0, thanks to Shadia Nabirye and Cynthia Kirenga goals.
The game that confirmed their qualification to semifinal was another 2-0 victory against Gambia, Shadia Nabirye returned on the score sheet and Nabawanuka Berinda Hope also appeared.
The two positive results put Kawempe on top of group B with seven points and South Africa qualified as the second side.
The team’s coach Ayub Khalifan expressed pride in the players’ achievements and confidence in their ability to continue their winning streak.
“Our girls have shown tremendous dedication and talent. We are focused on the semi-finals and are determined to bring home the trophy,” the coach stated.
On Thursday, Kawempe Muslim shall be playing Morocco while another CECAFA region representative, Tanzania will play South Africa.
Meanwhile, the other Uganda representatives in boys football, St Mary’s Kitende bowed out of the race after collecting only a point in two games.
The winner shall walk away with prize money of USD300,000, the first runners up shall go for USD200000 and the bronze winner will move home with USD150,000.
This money comes from Motsepe Foundation and it’s purpose is to develop infrastructure at schools that embrace youth football.
