By-election: Kayunga District LCV Chairmanship, Over 13 Seek for NUP Ticket

The elected Kayunga District LCV chairman, Late Ffeffeka Sserubogo Muhammad ‘hung’ himself on the tree behind his house in Kyebanjja village in Kayunga District and put away his life on 16th June 2021.

This means, the electoral commission now has a task to hold the by-election to fill the position.

Since it was a position taken by the National Unity Platform member, many have come out to take the post again and at least 14 NUP members have showed interest in the position.

According to the list this website has a copy indicates that at least all the NUP members who failed to get the MP positions in their constituencies want to take this opportunity to revive their political career.

The Beat FM and former Bbaale Constituency MP aspirant, Dennis Katongole aka Omutongole was the first person to reveal his interest to replace his close friend, Ffeffeka Sserubogo Muhammad.

Harriet Nakwedde who lost against Aidah Nantaba on the District Woman representative in the Parliament also came out to take the post.

Ben Moses Ojambo, the National Unity Platform chairman, Kayunga District told this website that he had a number people expressing their interests to have NUP’s ticket but he said that they will have a meeting probably on Thursday, which is tomorrow to see how they will receive the papers of the interested members.

“We are expecting to have a meeting on Thursday, because a number of people have showed interest which is not bad.

Currently have known 14 people but the flag will be taken by one person, we are going to set qualities, one should have to have our flag.

By the way by the end of August, we shall be having our flag bearer. For him or her to start looking for votes.” Ben Moses Ojambo told this website.

Since Kayunga became a District in 2000, it’s only in 2021 when the LCV Chairperson came from opposition party.
