Buganda Regional League: Medy Nyanzi Set To be Unveiled As Buikwe Red Stars Head Coach

Buikwe District 3rd division-based club, Buikwe Red Stars Football club is set to unveil Medy Nyanzi as the new head coach.
Nyanzi was one of the four names which were shortlisted by the club on Sunday 14th, November 2021, and interviewed the following day. Other names were Joseph Kogobe, Omonyi Robert, and Daniel Ssegawa.
Sources from the club have it that coach Nyanzi will today, Tuesday 16th, November will finalize personal terms and agreements before the clear date for the unveiling ceremony be communicated.
The 32-year-old Nyanzi comes with experience having guided teams like Barbara Hill Senior Secondary School, Seeta United FC, Bajjo Seeta FC, Bugoba FC, Busiika United FC, Luweero U17 District team, Mairye United FC, Canan High School Team, Bunyarugur Ladies FC as interim coach, and Bugema University a team he has guided from 2017 up to date.
Nyanzi is a CAF C certified Coach.
About Buikwe Red Stars
The club is said to have established in the early 1870s by football lovers in the community, one of them is said to be the late Konoweka Pius. During those days, the club played in the local lower league divisions however with no hopes of promotion to upper divisions. The club was being financially supported by the community.
In 1983, the club attracted a local investor who was known as LUSSE, who accepted to sponsor the club. During his time with the club, it became very strong at it was promoted to the top division known as Superleague in 1986.
However, around 1987, Mr. Lusse withdrew his sponsorship from the club because he was said to have been imprisoned by the government. This brought a financial setback to the club and it was likely to be relegated to the lower divisions.
However, fortunately, the club received an offer from NYTIL FC to merge both teams and there was an agreement to merge both teams to form BN Buikwe FC IN 1990, the new club played the first round at Buikwe and second round at Njeru NYTIL.
After the collapse of the alliance in 1992, Buikwe Red stars retained its name and started playing in the lower divisions.
In 1999, Buikwe red stars regained its superiority in the lower divisions and at this time it was being financially sponsored by the community under the chairmanship of Mr. Kida PAUL, Honorable Mukasa Anthony, Hajji Kawooya Mubarak, and Sande Ssebowa. In 2002, the club was promoted again to the Superleague where it played for two seasons and it was relegated to the lower local league in 2003.
After its relegation, there was a big setback and many people started to withdraw their interest in football.
In 2005, there was a new club that came in called NALUBAALE FC under the ownership if Mr. NJUUBI STEVEN, on the other hand totally led to the collapse of Buikwe Red stars.
After the collapse of Nalubaale FC, Buikwe Red stars was restored in 2009 by KIDA PAUL and his group and the club started to play in the lower divisions. In 2017, the club was promoted to the Third division known as the Regional league where it’s playing up to date.
