Buddu have made it through to the 2020 Buganda Masaza Cup final, beating defending Bulemeezi 1-0 thanks to a thunderous shot from Titus Ssematimba in the first half of the game.

For all the fizz and sparkle of attacking talents on display at FUFA Technical Center Njeru, it was Titus Ssematimba`s strike in 6th minutes which set Buddu on its way to the finals which they last played in 2018.

The “Abalyanaka” needed to make history of defending the championship and, on this occasion, it was beyond the team which eliminated Busujju in the quarter finals courtesy of rapid counter attacks, an inspired Ben Nakibinge, stoic defending and cunning tactics from Simon Peter Mugerwa, a man who has been on finals in the last two finals of the championship.

While Lukyamuzi`s coached side Buddu prepare to face Gomba Lions in the finals, Bulemeezi must compete in the third place playoff against Busiro who lost 5-4 in penalty shoots to Gomba following a barren draw in full time.

Road to the finals:

Buddu was pitted in Muganzirwazza group alongside all time winners Gomba Lions, Ssese and Kabula.

Buddu defeated Ssese 3-0 in their group opener before edging Kabula 2-0 in the 2nd game. In the last game Buddu played to a one all draw with Gomba.

Gomba kick started their journey with a 4-0 win over helpless Kabula, 4-3 against fighting Ssese and a one all draw against Buddu to top the group with 7 points.
