Bika Tournament: 50th Edition Launched, Minister Promises Unique Ideas

The Bika football and Netball tournament have been launched on Monday, 25, March , 2024 at Bulange Mengo. 

The Sports Minister Owek. Robert Sserwanga Ssalongo asserted that as the Kingdom is celebrating the 50th edition of the tournament that brings all the clans of Uganda to compete for Kabaka’s Shield, many unique things will be done to make the edition a special one. 

The tournament will kick off with a fundraising dinner at Hotel Africana in Kampala where all clans are requested to buy a table each at three million shillings. 

This dinner will see Buganda welcoming all companies that want to associate with the Bika activities and the table for them will go at 10 millions each while an individual will buy a table at three hundred thousand shillings. 

“But before the kick off, for the very first time we are having a fundraising dinner for this edition on 12th-April at Hotel Africana where a person will pay shs.300000/=, companies shs.1,000,000 and shs.3,000,000/= to be part so I call upon everyone concerned to be part of this initiative.” Said the Minister.

“The 50th edition will officially kicks off on 20th of April with Mmamba Gabunga and Butiko in netball, a week later the same clans will play the football opener (27th-April) as netball climaxes.” he added.  

Minister also asserted that the details of this year’s edition will be revealed on 12th April where the clans shall get to know whether the prize money will be increased and how the kingdom will give them a hand especially with the money that will be raised at the fundraising dinner. 

Ngoonge are the defending champions in football while Ngeye are the champions of Netball.
