Beach Soccer: ‘You took the Crown Because we were not here’, Kawempe Humbles the Defending Champions on Debut Day

Kawempe Muslim SS makes an impressive self introduction into beach soccer world with a convincing victory over the defending champions, Standard High School Zana. 

For the first time in the history of Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association’s championship, Kawempe Muslim has presented a team in beach soccer and wrote a serious statement on debut. 

It went down in history books that Dorcus Kisakye was the first player to score a goal for the women football giants, Kawempe Muslim in Schools’ beach soccer tournament. 

Kawempe beat Standard High 6-3 to take the three points on debut. Dorcus Kisakye, Agnes Nabukenya, Kampi Zoena and Tracy Nabalanzi scored for Kawempe Muslim.

Dorcus Kisakye and Agnes Nabukenya scored a brace each, Kampi Zoena and Tracy Nabalanzi also appeared on the scoreboard. 

The three goals for STAHIZA came from Turyasingura Prudence,Abiko Brenda and Karungi Phionah.

Kawempe will return to action on Tuesday morning playing against the last year losing finalists, Mukono Kings High School who also had a good start with a 2-1 victory over resilient Kasheshero Girls, thanks to Gune Consy and Nakyanzi Sarah strikes that came in the second and last period. The consolation for Kasheshero came from Karungi Suzan. 

Earlier on the day, the hosts, Tororo Girls School terribly hammered St Lawrence Citizen of Horizon 11-01. 

On the boys’ side, Standard High beat thrashed The Academy of St Lawrence 9-01, thanks to a poker from Luwagga Allan, a brace from Lutaaya Benon, Sending Julius and Mucunguzi Pastori also scored. The only goal for St Lawrence came from Nsubuga Scofield.

In the other results, Mbale School for the Deaf beat Kigezi High 5-3.

The action will continue on Tuesday with a number of fixtures at Tororo Girls School Beach Soccer Arena.
