BBC Names Ugandan Rapper, Fik Fameica Among The Ten Artistes To Shine In 2021

Uganda’s hip hop and Rapper, Shafic Walukagga alias Fik Fameica named among the ten musician in Africa to shine in year 2021.

BBC News Africa is optimistic that the Kutama hit maker will have a big impact in African Music Industry and listed him among the top ten African musicians.

The 24-year-old steers away from typical mainstream Ugandan music and experiments with his sound that has been influenced by reggae.

Fik Fameica is breaking divisions and connecting with many young people through his music and has already scored collaborations with well known artists from across Africa, including Patoranking, Vanessa Mdee and Joeboy.” BBC Africa News commented on Fameica in their article.

Among the ten, Fik Fameica is expected to take the second position behind South African youngster, Elaine.

The other artistes on the list includes; Elaine (South Africa), Fik Fameica (Uganda), Gaz Mawete (Democratic Republic of Congo), Kabza De Small (South Africa), KiDi (Ghana), Omah Lay (Nigeria), Sha Sha (Zimbabwe), Soraia Ramos (Cape Verde), Tems (Nigeria), ne Zuchu (Tanzania).

Brief history of Fik Fameica

Walukagga Shafik (born 10 January 1996), is a Ugandan rapper better known by his stage name Fik Fameica a.k.a. Fresh Bwoy. His debut came in 2015 with “Pistol” under the Black Man Town music label, led by a Ugandan music icon Geosteady. His later songs, “Salawo” and “Mbega Wa Bbaala” gained him a recording contract with Kama Ivien Management. His club hit “Batuwulira” followed by “Byenyenya” followed. The song made him the most booked Ugandan artist in 2017. Fik Fameica won awards in Uganda and East Africa and went on to win Uganda’s most popular artist in 2017. In 2018, he was crowned Breakthrough Artist, Best in Hip-Hop and Best Rap Song for his track “Kutama” at the annual HiPipo Awards.
