Awo Mutandise Okwebeereramu: Kyagulanyi Sends a Vote of Thanks To Musicians Who Publicly Stand Against Police Brutality
Pop star who turned Politician, and National Unity Platform Presidential flag bearer, Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine gave a vote of thanks to Musicians who publicly came out and raised their voices against police brutality against humanity.
It turned a norm for Uganda police and other security agencies to fire teargas, pepper spray and live bullets in Ugandans especially the supporters of opposition candidates.
And a number of people lost their lives and the notable dates to mention is the 18th and 19th November 2020 where over 50 Ugandans lost lives when Uganda went on strike over the arrest of Kyangulanyi in Luuka District.
Basing on such violent acts by Security organs, politicians, opinion leaders, human rights defenders, some religious leaders came out to raise their lids against those acts but Musicians have been silent.
However, when the violence became a continuous enjoyable job for security organs against Ugandans, Musicians started to come out to condemning the acts and the notable Musicians wrote on their social media handles with #UgandanLivesMatter

Basing on that, while addressing media early on Tuesday at National Unity Platform headquarters in Kamwokya, Kyagulanyi thanked musicians, Journalists, Socialites, opinion leaders, Theatre actors, Human Rights defenders for coming out publicly to speak against the acts of Security organs and he asked them not to stop.
“I take this opportunity to thank all the musicians, people with big following on social media, opinion leaders, theatre actors, human Rights defenders, sports persons,and all the citizens who have strongly came/come out to condemn police brutality. Speaking the truth is not politics, condemning the killing of innocent Ugandans is not politics.
Please don’t stop talking, people out there gave you their trust and if you stand with them, they will also stand with you.” Kyagulanyi speaking.
