All is Set For Inaugural Mbalala SS U-17 Easter Cup Kick-off
Mukono: In their pursuit to commence early setting up a strong School team for academy year 2021/22, the Mbalala Secondary School head teacher, Nyanzi Yasin saw it wise to organize a Junior’ football gala where they can easily tap talents.
The three days inaugural tournament, dubbed Mbalala SS U-17 Easter Cup 2021 is set to commence on Friday (Good Friday) 2nd April 2021 at Mbalala Secondary School Mukono and Bajjo-Seeta.
While speaking to this website on Thursday evening, the Mbalala Secondary School Head Teacher Nyanzi Yasin revealed the reason as to why they came up with such initiative at s moment when most kids are at home.
“We have like three reasons as to why we came out to organize this tournament, one, we want to nurture and identify talents, because many kids do have talent but lack platform where they can expose it and yet that talent can help them get academic bursaries at different schools at a time when COVID-19 has affected the pockets of every parent.
We also as a school want to bounce back in competitions, in the past we have backslided but we now we want really to compete, and we going to use this tournament to get kids who can make up a strong School team for future engagements.
And lastly, this tournament is also a marketing tool for the school.”
According to Nyanzi, the school will at least get 26 kids who are purely talented to make up their School team and they will win a full bursary each.
The tournament has attracted 11 Soccer Academy teams from Wakiso, Mukono, Kampala and Kayunga districts and they are already Pitted in two groups of five teams.
Group A which will be hosted at Mbalala Secondary School playground has; Soccer for Life Bweyogerere, Mbalala SS Team, Rivers Soccer Academy, Keitex 2027 Foundation, Mbalala Academy and Spurs Academy-Kiyindi while group be which will be at Bajjo has; Naguru Kids Soccer Academy, Kikko Young,
Goma Sports Academy, Bajjo Youngstars,Bukerere -Kagala Generation Stars.
According to tournament coordinator, Hamidu Kasozi, all the participating team will have free lunch through the tournament.
And winners will walk away with prizes, balls, trophies and certificates.
