AFCONQ: Uganda Cranes Hosts Neighbors S. Sudan At Kitende Today

Uganda national football team, the Cranes are hosting neighbors, South Sudan in match day three of Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers, 2022 at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Thursday 12th November 2020.

The must win for both teams, is to be played with no fans due to COVID-19 pandemic and according to FUFA, only 150 people are expected in stands including the authorized journalists.

Uganda is vying to consolidate on top of group B, while South Sudan are looking for their maiden point in this qualifiers.

The previous two meetings between the two, The Cranes have been giants, and they attained a 5-1 identical victory against the Bright Stars.

However, the Cranes Head Coach, Jonathan McKinstry prior to the game cited that this is a rejuvenated South Sudan that need not to take for granted.

“The current South Sudan team are very well organised, well-coached,” McKinstry said of their opponents.

“We need to make sure that we break down that defensive resilience of theirs but we don’t expect an easy afternoon. We have to keep doing the good things and putting pressure on them,” he added.

Uganda will be with out Alex Bbaka, Alex Kakuba and Mubiru Uche who pulled out of the squad due to COVID-19 and other injury issues.

The Cranes are vying to collect their second win of the Cameroon qualifier, following their one win, draw against Malawi and Burkina Faso respectively.

South Sudan coach Ashu Cyprian Besong, will base much on Daniel Chok Dau who plays in the Czech Republic and goalkeeper Majak Maling Mawith who plays for Melbourne City in Australia as he will be searching for his first win in the group and against Uganda.

Uganda is topping Group B with four points while South Sudan are trailing on bottom with zero points.
