The race for speakership of the 11th parliament is more between the two National Resistance Movement senior members, that is Incumbent Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga and her deputy, Jacob Oulanyah.
The ruling party has called upon it’s members of parliament especially those interested in contesting for speakership to have mutual understanding and treat each other with respect and as a family.
This call was made by Emmanuel Lumala Dombo the party’s director for information.
“The jostling for the positions of the speaker and deputy speaker has reached unprecedented levels. It is important that members of NRM remain United for a purpose and refer to each other with much respect.” Dombo said.
Dombo still reminded the MPs that the NRM party is about to declare which candidate the party will officially endorse for the position thus the Central Executive committee of the party normally provides guidance to it’s members of parliament.
“The concerned members will be notified once the modalities for such guidance are concluded and NRM SG has directed me to remind MPs about the subsisting legal framework and expectations under the NRM code of conduct” he said.
According to Dombo. This kind of cohesion will enable the party deliver it’s promises of security the future of Ugandans.
