AFCON2021: Try Your Calculations Somewhere Else, Malawi Denies Cranes Third Consecutive Qualification

The calculations Ugandans had before Malawi Flames and Cranes last qualifying fixture slated for Monday Evening, failed even to escape out of their calculators.

Ugandans were counting on Malawi to qualify to Africa Cup of Nations for third consecutive time and they only needed a point from the encounter but the Flames’ Richard Mbulu never wanted to see Abdallah Mubiru’s boys dirtying their City with cerebration materials.

Richard Mbulu’s lone header in the first quarter of the game honored on Monday Evening at Kamuzu Stadium in Brantyre painfully ended Uganda’s hope to feature in AFCON finals for the third consecutive time since 2017.

After having a goalless draw at home over the weekend against already qualified Burkina Faso, Uganda went to Brantyre searching for only a point to Qualify but the Flames who needed maximum points finally took it all and made it to AFCON for the Third time in their history.

The said came in the game so determined, when they won 1-0 on road against South Sudan that beat Uganda 1-0 on match day four, Malawi also saw it possible to beat the Cranes and Indeed they did it.

Finally in Group B, Burkina Faso and Malawi made it through and the CECAFA Nations, that is Uganda and South Sudan bowed out.
