USSSA Games 2024: St Julian Parades Trophy to Mukono Community, Director Reveals Winning Secret Tactics

St Julian High School Seeta is still making headlines and still far from leaving the lips of Ugandans that after 22 years of trophy drought in Greater Mukono, the school brought back the glory with a 3-0 victory against Amus College on USSSA final held on Saturday at Masaka SS in Masaka City.

For starters, Mukono last tasted the joy of winning a national football title in 2002 when Naggalama Islamic won it, it was the 16th edition held in Soroti.

It took 22 years later for Greater Mukono to have the next champion after the championship has changed the title name two times.

Following the success that surprised many, St Julian held a trophy parade in Mukono on Monday and the community from St Julian High School Compus in Seeta Bukedere, Seeta central, Kawuga Mukono City center, had a chance to witness the trophy after 22 years of thirsty.

The parade climax was at Mukono District head quarters where the deputy RDC welcomed the trophy.

For starters, Julian has been competing in USSSA boys football championship for the past two years but they have been using their main campus in Gayaza, little did they know that their luck is in Mukono and on their first attempt using Seeta campus, they wrote history.

Though it was a surprise to the public, the Director of St Julian Schools, Jeff Sserunjogi revealed to this website in an exclusive interview that they started preparing for the championship in November 2023.

The school started with having a partnership with one of the best academies in the country, that’s Rays of Grace Academy before recruiting an experienced coaching staff.

“Over a decade St Julian schools have been trying and kept believing, we tried and tried but as football is about partnerships and friendship, we found a friend in Robert Kiwanuka and the friendship led us to a partnership with Rays of Grace Academy, it has yielded a success in a short stint.” Said outspoken director before adding.

“Those players have been together like for five years from primary now they are in Senior one, two and very few are in upper classes, hopefully we’re still with them and we are here to stay, we’re here to win, now we’re getting ready for East Africa” St Julian Schools Founder Director Jeff Sserunjogi.

Winning this year’s USSSA Boy football championship, St Julian has joined St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende, Amus College and Bukedea Comprehensive to represent Uganda at FEASSA games in late August here in Uganda in Bukedi Zone.
