UPL: The Vipers Dumped in Garbage bin as KCCA Register Long awaited Maiden Season Win
The defending champions Vipers fall to KCCA FC after a 3-1 loss in a game played on Friday evening under the floodlights of MTN-Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
Muhammed Shaban netted a brace and Usama Arafat added one while Abubaker Lawal scored the consolation for Vipers as the Kasasiro Boys register their first victory of the season.
With just 34 seconds Lukwago poorly cleared the ball to set for well positioned Watambala who controlled the ball and took a powerful shot with his left foot but his shot went few inches over the crossbar.
One minute later, KCCA FC took the lead through Muhamad Shaban’s free header off Lukwago’s well delivered cross.
Into the second half, the goal poacher Muhamad Shaban doubled the lead for KCCA FC. Usama Arafat forced his marker into the box and his low shot found free Shaban who stretched and hit the ball and goalkeeper cleared off the line however, the assistant referee Timothy Gumikiriza called his centre referee to award the goal.
Vipers SC kept on hunting for the consolation and maybe equalizer but Usama Arafat netted the third in added minutes for the hosts to send the home fans wild.
Substitute Emmanuel Loki beautifully passed to Usama inside the box and he calmly curled the ball with his left leg to extend the lead for the Kasasiro Boys with only 1 minute to the end of the game.
With almost the last touch of the game, substitute Abubakar Lawal scored the consolation for the Venoms after the goalkeeper Emojong failed to deal with the cross inside the box.
This was the first win for KCCA FC in seven games this season. KCCA FC lost all the opening five games, shared spoils with Arua Hill in a 1-all draw in the previous game and secured first win over Vipers on Friday evening.
Vipers SC’s unbeaten run in the league this season, came to an end, beaten by the rivals and sits third on the table, 4 points behind table leaders BUL FC.
In the next game, Vipers will host URA FC on 23rd November while KCCA FC will visit Busoga United the following day.
