Road to Cape Town: She Cranes Commence Training Ahead of World Cup Even in Absence of Government Financial Support
The Uganda Netball national team, the She Cranes started none residential training on Monday at Kamwokya Community Sports Center as they gear up 2023 World Cup preparations.
Even with out the government financial support for this tournament, Uganda Netball Federation thought it wise to start training and believes that the money will find them on the way.

UNF needs over 2.6 billion shillings for proper preparations for World Cup Finals, they tournament they are featuring for the 4th time in history and this prestigious tournament will held in Cape Town South Africa in July this year.
Uganda Netball believes that if they get that 2.6bn shillings, it will help them to have regional tours like they did last year, the international friendlies probably against Barbados, USA and Scotland.
It’s not clear when the government will give the Federation money to have smooth shaping of the team that will represent the nation on top scene. This comes in the situation when the IGG has ordered National Council of Sports to transfer all the Federation monies in less than 7 days.
The training that was held today, it has attracted 18 players out of the 27 local based summoned team and the head coach Fred Mugerwa revealed what he has started with.

“We have just started, now we are looking at their fitness levels but we found them when they are not badly off because they have been in the league playing but at national team levels, we need to add more.
We are going also to work on their combination, movements because they are coming from different clubs.” Said head coach Fred Tabale Mugerwa.

Mugerwa asserted that he is not thinking of trimming the team as early as now until they start training everyday. He also believes that the team will be full at the end of this week and any player who will not report within this week, she will not be part of the team.
Uganda is in Group D with New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago, and Singapore.
