FUFA Women’s Cup: ‘We’re still the Football Powerhouse in Uganda, Dare Not to Disrespect us’, ‘Porridge Eaters’ Kawempe Lectures Queens as Martyrs Avenge against Makerere

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC had a perfect revenge against Kampala Queens, the side that beat them in the league recently.

The valley warriors thumped the current FUFA Women’s Super League champions by 5-1 in the quarter final of the 2022/23 Women’s Cup game played on Sunday morning at IUIU Kabojja playground.

Ayub Khalifa coached side got their goals through Phiona Nabulime, Agnes Nabukenya, Shakirah Nyinagahirwa, Allen Nassaazi and Aisha Nantongo, the only one for Kampala Queens came from Rukia Namubiru.

Kawempe got the lead in the 12th minute of the game but Rukia cancelled the lead, in the 35th minute and at the break it was square.

Seven minutes into second half, Agnes Nabukenya reclaimed Kawempe ‘s lead with a beauty strike before Shakirah Nyinagahirwa tapped in the third in the 65th minute, Allen Nassaazi came in with the fourth eight minutes later and Aisha Nantongo sealed Kawempe’s deserved victory in the 80th minute with a penalty.

None expected the results come that way against a side that hardly concede and won a league unbeaten.

But it has been in the norms of Kampala Queens to attack it’s opponents in a banter way via social media before the game.

#OperationDouble 👑”, Kampala Queens used this statement on their Twitter handle with a photo of kids being served with porridge and this statement before the game.

That tormented Kawempe Muslim players and according to Rhoda Nanziri, they saw that statement as a disrespect to them and they had to prove the Palace Queens wrong, that’s why they came out to show the Queens and the world that Kawempe Muslim is still the power house of Uganda’s women football who deserve maximum respect whatsoever.

The win propelled Kawempe Muslim to semifinal and they will be meeting Uganda Martyrs Lubaga who eliminated Defending champions, Makerere University WFC.

Uganda Martyrs on the other hand also avenged against Makerere University, the side that beat them 2-1 in the league six days back at the same ground in Makerere.

Martyrs through Latifa Nakasi and Catherine Nagadya, they beat Makerere University 2-1 and the only goal for Makerere came from Daphine Nalubowa.

The four teams qualified to semifinals are; She Maroons, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga, Kawempe Muslim and Asubo-Gafford Ladies FC.
