FUFA Women’s Cup: Olga Lukia Exceptional as Asubo Eliminate Wasteful St Noa to Reach Semis

Asubo-Gafford Ladies FC propelled to Semifinals of the FUFA Women’s Cup after six years since their first attempt in 2017.
To reach semifinals, the side eliminated St Noa Girls Zana via spot kicks following a goalless draw in normal time at IUIU Kabojja playground on cool Sunday evening.
To anyone who saw the draw, could easily say, it will be a walk in the park for the on form Asubo-Gafford Ladies, the side that has won four consecutive league matches but it was really opposite on the pitch as a top flight side met the none league side.
From the start of the game, St Noa Girls showed that they are side that needs a win to make history as the only none side propelled to Semifinals of the FUFA Women’s Cup but they were too wasteful on the day.
In the first 45 minutes, Asubo tried to maintain the game and got at least two half chances for Kamiyat Naigaga and Madinah Nakaayi but they were not converted the same applied to St Noa especially the destroyer of Asubo’s back, Slyvia Kabene but she was too wasteful, converted none of the four clear cut chances she got and three of them were one on one with Asubo’s custodian Lukia Olga.
Pushing the game to penalty shoots where Asubo won the tie by 4-3, it was Olga Lukia to thank, the only goalkeeper still in the race and conceded no goal made at least four classic saves in normal time before stopping a penalty that won Asubo the game.
In penalty shoots, St Noa failed twice to convert while Asubo once and the latter propelled to semifinal for the first time since they did it in 2017 when they eventually made it the final.
At semis, Asubo will be visiting She Maroons at Luzira. To reach this level, Maroons eliminated Olila High School 2-1.
The other games played on Sunday, Kawempe Muslim Ladies hummered Kampala Queens 5-1 while Uganda Martyrs Lubaga beat Makerere University WFC 2-1 at Makerere University grounds.
