Stanbic Uganda Cup: Round of 64 Draws Held, Final Hosting Venue Revealed
The draws for the 49th edition of Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 64 were held on Tuesday at FUFA Complex Mengo.
The draws were graced by the FUFA third vice president Owek. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi who thanked Plascon Uganda Stanbic Uganda Cup, the official sponsors of the prestigious cup in the country.
On the same event, the Director of Competitions Department at FUFA Hajjati Aisha Nalule revealed that the final of the 2023 edition will be held at Akii Bua stadium in Lira Northern Uganda.
This is the first time in 11 years for the Uganda Cup final to return in Northern Uganda, the last one happened in 2012 when Uganda Revenue Authority FC won the title after beating Vipers SC by then Bunamwaya. The game was held at Pecce Stadium in Gulu.
180m shillings will be injected in this year’s edition and the winner will walk away with 50m shillings, first runners up will take 25m, second runners up, 12.5m, semifinalists, 6m, quarter finalists at 3M and those at round of 16 will each take 2m shillings while all the teams that will make it to round of 32 will be given full jersey kit.
The round of 64 will be honored between 27th January and 3rd February 2023 and the teams (from regional level) which were in pot be will be the hosts of the one legged encounter.
