KAYUNGA: Over 200 People Graduate From Agatha Nalubwama Ministries
In a ceremony held at the Mayor’s Garden in Kayunga, at least two hundred (200) people graduated with certificates under the Agatha Nalubwama Ministries in partnership with Work for Life on Saturday 26th, November 2022.
The programme was organized with the aim to improve the people’s understanding and the standards of products produced.
The brain of the course, Hon. Agatha Nalubwama, explained why there was a need to bring such courses to local communities of Kayunga District.
“Kayunga is one of the top districts in the country in production, mainly in the agriculture sector, but we have always earned little from what we produce with those buying enjoying the profits,” Hon. Nalubwama said.
“I spearheaded this course just to help them (the locals) improve on the standards of the products we produce and how to use the little they earn to start up small scale businesses,” Hon. Nalubwama added.
Also in presence at the function was the Kayunga District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
“With these entrepreneurship skills that you have got, I don’t think you will fail to use the government funds which are always given to people for developmental purposes,” the CAO noted.
The CAO also went ahead to inform the people on how the government built an industrial hub which is located in Gangama but few people turned up for training and some of them were ineligible to do the training.
“I call upon you people to always turn up and honor DIT (Directorate of Industrial Training) courses because they are useful to some of us to an extent that we can earn much money,” the CAO beseeched.
“I thank you, and congratulations to you all the graduands for studying, and please don’t just sit down with the knowledge that you have earned today, but instead pass it through to your fellows down there, and if possible, advise them to come and study once such courses are advertised,” the CAO added.
“I wish also to thank Agatha Nalubwama Ministries for always extending such knowledge to the local community and please don’t get tired,” the CAO concluded.
The graduation ceremony was graced by Ms. Noeline Komugisha, the Principal Qualifications Officer of Occupational Standards for DIT under the Ministry of Education and Sports.
In her speech, Ms. Noeline emphasized that DIT are the “mothers” of anyone or organization willing to impart vocational skills, a reason why Agatha Nalubwama Ministries invited them.
“I want, first of all, to congratulate all the learners. They have hugely me for graduating and what they have achieved. Mindset and attitude are the two main reasons why we can’t or why we manage to get to what we want. I also appreciate, you, the trainers, for your hard work and patience in teaching old and mature people till completion,” Ms. Noeline said.
“I also thank you the people for listening to Nalubwama’s call and taking up this training,” Ms. Noeline added.
“As DIT, we deal with vocational skills. Those joining secondary schools will now be taught these skills in sectors of agriculture, art and design, technology and design, nutrition and technology, physical education, information and communication technology, and then the entrepreneurship skills which you have all graduated in today,” Ms. Noeline emphasized.
Ms. Noeline added that one of their core values is to promote entrepreneurial values in the community. And that’s why they appreciate Work of Life and Agatha Nalubwama Ministries for the support to the people in Kayunga to gain these values.
In a speech written by the Director DIT, Mr Patrick, read by Ms. Noeline, the former congratulated the Agatha Nalubwama Ministries upon the completion of the training program.
The Director also emphasized the need for entrepreneurial skills to solve societal problems, leading to personal and national economic transformation and development. He urged the youth to utilize available skilling opportunities set up by the government to attain skills for the already dynamic world.
