Police in Busaana have arrested a man for allegedly stealing three (3) bunches of matooke.

Kyambadde Ismael, 46, a resident of Kyengera-Kuffu, was arrested on the night of Thursday 1st, December 2022 at around 10pm.

People heard a dog barking and they later went on to go to the banana plantation as others were saying that it had to be thieves.

Kyambadde was found hiding in the nearby area with a matooke of three (3) bunches. Kyambadde, in his own statement, said that he was trapping a guinea fowl.

Later on, the owner of the banana plantation was called to see to the “thief”. According to Mr Zikulabe Joshua, the LC1 Chairperson, Kyambadde is widely accused of stealing his neighbours’ properties.

“We are going to handle such people so that they don’t steal again, and we are going to imprison them until what the stealing is over,” Mr Owomugisha Joshua, the OC of Busaana Police Station, said.

The OC also added that Kyambadde is going to act as a lesson to others who engage in the same crime of theft.

The owner of the banana plantation reportedly wants Kyambadde to pay one million (1,000,000/=) Uganda shillings for each bunch of matooke, and hence a total of 3,000,000/= (three million Uganda shillings).
