Express FC Appoint Jimmy Kintu Mwera as New Head Coach

Express FC have confirmed the appointment of Jimmy Kintu Mwera as their new head coach, succeeding Badru Kaddu Mukasa, who recently joined NEC FC.

Kaddu’s move to the Bugolobi-based NEC came after the club parted ways with Hussein Mbalangu, creating a coaching shuffle that has now seen Kintu step into the hot seat at the Red Eagles.

Kintu, who earlier this week resigned from his role as Calvary FC head coach, is expected to bring fresh energy and structure to the Nakivubo-based side. He reportedly left Calvary — one of the Uganda Premier League’s newest entrants — due to persistent struggles both on and off the pitch.

The experienced tactician boasts a rich coaching background, having previously managed Kyetume FC, St. Noa Girls Zzana, and Uganda Christian University (UCU). Notably, he guided UCU to victory in the 2019 University Football League — a triumph that highlighted his tactical brilliance and leadership qualities.

Kintu took charge at Calvary at the start of the current season, replacing Simon Otim, and was widely credited for improving the team’s discipline and tactical organization despite limited resources.

His first test at Express FC will come after the international break when the Red Eagles face Lugazi FC — a fixture expected to set the tone for his tenure.

With Express looking to regain consistency and push higher up the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table, all eyes will now be on Kintu to restore belief and deliver results at one of Uganda’s most decorated football clubs.
