2024 FIFA U20 WWCQ: Uganda Eliminate Mozambique To Keep World Cup Dream Alive

The Uganda U20 Women’s Football National Team, the Queen Cranes have ejected Mozambique after beating them 2-0 this evening at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

Phiona Nabbulime and Agnes Nabukenya’s first goals were enough to hand Uganda a 2-0 win at home.

Despite conceding 6 goals in the first leg at home, Mozambique defended well and conceded only two goals against Uganda in the second leg.

It only took Uganda six minutes to have a lead. Phiona Nabbulime scored the opening goal with a header from Margaret Kunihira’s well delivered corner.

Thirteen minutes later, again Kunihira assisted Agnes Nabukenya whose powerful shot from outside the box went direct at the back of the net.

In the second half, Uganda created many chances but they failed to utilize them to extend the lead.

The centre referee ended the game as Uganda beat completed the double over Mozambique to progress to the next round on 8-0 aggregate.

In the first leg that was played in Mozambique, Uganda comfortably beat Mozambique 6-0.

WHAT THE COACH AND CAPTAIN SAID

“We have noticed some mistakes in the defense and we’re going to work on them to make sure that we overcome our next opponents. Our goal is to qualify for world cup.” said hopeful Ayub

“I wanted to score at least two goals in the second leg but unfortunately I didn’t, but I think Allah that as a team we managed to win the game and advance. We will work tiresomely to eject the next opponents.” Said Nandago.

Uganda will now face the winner on aggregate between Senegal and Benin in November this year.
