Asubo-Gafford Ladies FC will be seeking to collect more points and boost their survival chances as the team play host Uganda Christian University Lady Cardinals on 5th, March 2023 at Kampala Quality Grounds.
The side stands 10th on the log with 7 points and a win for them will push them to 10 points to pile more pressure on Rines SS WFC and Makerere University.
After acquiring the services of Zaituin Namaganda and Kamiyat Naigaga in the recent concluded second transfer window, the Kawempe based side looked motivated and changed as the performance and ball display was all to tell on the pitch after Kampala Queens game at Kampala Quality grounds.
Besides losing their game to the first placed Kampala Queens FC in the opening second round game, Asubo reorganized themselves more , corrected mistakes,which created an impact on their convincing 3-1 win over Martyrs and will hope to bank on the positivity to compile more points to avoid relegation.
The last time when the two sides faced off in Mukono ,the hosts took the day with 4-0 win over Asubo Gafford Ladies and it is on this point that the teams assistant captain believes that this is the best time for the team to make a revenge against them
“The last time we played against Uganda Christian University Lady Cardinals,we lost by 4-0 because we over respected the team” said the assistant captain Moureen Nangonzi
“We’re still respecting them but this time round they should come knowing that we are a changed side and we have a mission, and the mission is to stay in the league, so no game we’re taking for granted.” She added.
On the other side,the Mukono based side will focus on getting maximum points to pile more pressure on second placed side Uganda Martyrs that’s now on 22 points after beating Corporate 2-0.
The side is still looking for their first win of the league in second round. They lost to Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC and made a draw against Rines SS WFC.
