Career Switch: Ziraye Dumps Football for Dance Sport, Narrates His Unique Journey

Every successful person has a painful story and every painful story has successful end.

In this regard through an exclusive interview with Voice of Bugerere, Ziraye Samuel a.k.a B-Boy Saman,the former Footballer, expressed his hopes in Uganda dancesport as a sport that can quickly transform the life of an athlete.

Ziraye Samuel (B-Boy Saman), switched from football to dance after realizing that dance is a sport which is more good than football due to the fact that all the years he spent in football he achieved nothing and there is a lot of competitions in football which is not the case in dance.

The 25 year old dancer, continues to asserts that he has achieved a lot in dance since he joined the sport.

In his first attempt in dance sport was in  breakfast gam in Nsambya but he was dropped, then the following year 2018, he won the same battle and the following year 2019 he reached on finals in the same battle.

Ziraye Samuel said that “Right now I’m internationally recognized since I participated in Montpelier in France and it was a good challenge to me because B-Boy Gravity from USA he gave me confidence, I really see him on videos and that fear factor was totally eliminated at all”.

In February 2023 Uganda will take part in World breaking series in Tokyo Japan and the country will be represented by three athletes; Ziraye Samuel (B-Boy Saman) , Opio Steven (B-Boy Pencil) and Ronald Ndawula.

Ziraye Samuel has promised that this Championship in Japan will act as focal point to him.

This tournament going to be a focal point for me, I want to put up a good performance in Olympics 2024 in France.” 

“Let me send my great thanks to my mentor Mr Kawooya shaqur who inspired me to join dance sport and I will never regret because he encouraged me which forced me to do better” 

He went to Kenya but I did poorly but came back home to participate in Hipop in society at Nsambya.

According to National team coach, Serwakulya Edrine has recommended Ziraye Samuel as a talented kid that any time he will progress to the world competition because is a one who can identify his weaknesses, very focused and discipline, which are one other key points for any successful athlete.

In the world rankings Ndawula Ronald is in 40th, Opio Steven is in 64th and Ziraye Samuel in 73rd but due to good performance has managed to add more effort and is number one in Uganda.

He asserted that some of challenges he does face include; lack of good grounds and sponsors.

“It should be worked upon in order to reduce some limitations if the game of sport is to develop in the country.”
