Capacity Building: Buganda Sports Officer, MCOC VC Graduate In FUFA Match Coordinator Course
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) became the first Football Association to organize a Match Coordinator course and luckily enough, Buganda Kingdom was one of the beneficiaries, after officials from the kingdom graduated and were awarded with certificates.
The two officials are Buganda Kingdom Sports Officer, Adam Ssematiko, and Festus Kirumira, the Vice Chairman Technical of the Buganda Masaza Cup.
54 participants were awarded certificates after completing the three (3) day course.
The course started on Monday 1st and climaxed on Wednesday 3rd, August 2022 at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
“I am very happy for being awarded this certificate because it is going to help us much in organizing different tournaments [due] to the fact that we have got knowledge,” said Adam Ssematiko.
Participants were split into groups and taken through simulations on how to move out on match days, match coordination meetings, and how to make reports and filling other documents.
The course was facilitated by the experienced CAF General Coordinator and Instructor, Kabelo Bosilong, who was helped by Ali Mwebe, the FUFA Football Development Director, and a CAF General Match Coordinator was present as well.
In his remarks, Kabelo Bosilong thanked FUFA for the opportunity granted to him to pass knowledge to the new crop of General Coordinators.
“I thank FUFA for the opportunity to come and pass knowledge to this group on how to become General Coordinators. We took the class through theory and practical sessions, what it takes, roles and responsibilities of a General Coordinator, and I am optimistic they will put this to good use,” Mr Bosilong indicated.
The closing ceremony was presided over by the FUFA CEO, Edgar Watson, and he indicated that this is the right step in achieving capacity building.
“I thank Kabelo for accepting our abrupt invite to come and facilitate the Match Coordinators course. I urge participants to apply what they have learnt because to know and not do is to not know,” Egar Watson proverbially stated.
