Women’s Super League: Kawempe Returns to Winning Ways in Style
The Women football power house in Uganda, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC returned to Winning Ways in style after hardly beat newbies Tooro Queens 2-0 in the morning encounter at Njeru Technical Center.
Now the current top scorer Allen Nasaazi and Sharon Nadunga were on target as Kawempe getting their second victory in three games.
Allen who replaced Juliet Nalukenge in today’s start list, gave the hungry warriors in a lead, 18 minutes into the game, she capitalized from Gloria Namakula’s mistake.
Her substitute, Sharon Nadunga sealed the Victory with a superb header, converting from a corner kick well laid by Samalie Nakacwa in the 90+2 minutes.
Sharon replaced Allen Nasaazi in the 90th minute, her first touch was a second goal for Kawempe and the sixth in the tournament.
Kawempe, now is the side in the tournament that has played 270 minutes on artificial turf consecutively and the fatigue manifested in this game.
Tooro Queens, tried to level Kawempe in play but pedigree was also a great factor.
The country Queens received a red card in the 79th minute of the game, Kobusobozi Resty booked for indiscipline. She became the first player in the tournament to get matching orders.
The win helped Kawempe to move to the top of the table, squaring points with Uganda Martyrs who are still have a game in hand.
Tooro Queens remained on three points, their third game, they will be playing against Kampala Queens and Kawempe Muslim will finish their group games on Friday, they will face struggling Makerere University.
