Women Super League: Kawempe Muslim Humbles Kampala Queens at ‘Own ground’

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC start perfectly with a 4-0 win against Kampala Queens in the ongoing FUFA Women’s Super League at Njeru.

Margret Kunihira, Hadijjah Nandago, Rhoda Nanziri and youngster Allen Nasaazi were on target as the Valley Warriors humble Kampala Queens on Monday afternoon.

The Under 17 women National team forward, Margret Kunihira gave Kawempe a lead as early as five minutes into first stanza, she had a beautiful pass between the custodian and the goalpost.

After ten minutes, Ismail Mukiibi coached side tried to square the game but Kawempe’s backline of Aisha Nantongo, Shakirah Nankwanga, Asia Nakibuuka and Samalie Nakacwa was too strong for the former’s forwards for at least get a consolation.

They gave no room to Fauzia Najjemba to exercise her potential, actually she was the most fouled player on the day after Hadijjah Nandago.

Kawempe missed more two chances from Sharon Nadunga and Juliet Nalukenge which forced the game to go into halftime with only one goal on score board.

Since Shakirah Nyinagahirwa took charge in the middle of the park, Ismail Mukiibi before second half restart, he made substitution, he put off Jackie Ogol who was more of a tourist than a participant and replaced her with Nakiyingi Sophia.

In the 63rd minute, substitute Sophia Nakiyingi had a clear cut chance to square off the game with a mere tap in but missed and in return, Rhonda Nanziri punished them with a belter in the 66th minute, she scored in a distance of 30 yards off the goal line.

Before stabilizing, substitute, and a promising forward, Allen Nasaazi headed them the third in the 71st minute., converting a well taken corner kick from left flank, after spending three minutes on the pitch.

Hadijjah Nandago sealed the Victory in style with a sweet press, thanks to Juliet Nalukenge’s low pass in the area.

Currently Kawempe Muslim tops the group with three points and four goals, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga come in second with three points and one goal.

However, in the game Kampala Queens registered an Injury, their defender in Mwajjuma Nabukwasi was stretched off in the 87th minute.

Earlier in the day, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC beat Makerere University a goal to none, it was a penalty scored by Kevin Nakacwa.

Two games on fixture tomorrow.

Uganda Martyrs will be hosting Kawempe Muslim at 9am while later in the day, newbies Tooro Queens will be facing wounded Makerere University.

All games to be played at FUFA Technical Center Njeru.
