Women Football: Sooner, Lady Doves To Announce the Signing of Uganda Martyrs’ Skipper
The 2021 FUFA Women’s Super League Champions and Uganda’s representatives in the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League zonal Qualifiers, Lady Doves FC nears the completion of signing of Uganda Martyrs’ skipper, Gloria Namugerwa this website can confirm.
Speaking to this website, Lady Doves Director who doubles as the club chairman revealed that they are almost done with the signing of Uganda Martyrs’ skipper Gloria Namugerwa on a six month loan deal that will m go past January 2022.
“The squad will be strengthened by the arrival of Gloria Namugerwa, the skipper at Uganda Martyrs High school Lubaga WFC, she is coming loan deal that will see her appear for Lady Doves past January 2022, I will not disclose much on that but I am sure She is going to play for us in zonal qualifiers.” Lady Doves Director, Julius Mugisa confirmed.
Mugisa applauded the sportsmanship exhibited by Uganda Martyrs management.
Namugerwa, had an amazing performance in 2021 Super League tourney held at Njeru Technical Center between April and May 2021, she helped her side to grab a bronze medal and she appeared on the best Eleven of the tournament listed by most local Journalists including this website.
Via a phone interview with the Martyrs’ CEO, John Baptist Ssemujju, the transfer is done and dusted though he did not want to go into details of the transfer.
“It’s true, she [Namugerwa] has joined Lady Doves but I am not in good position to give you much details on that, you can contact the club PRO.” The CEO told this website via phone call.
The Club’s PRO, Mugabi Geoffrey Junior also revealed that the negotiations between the two clubs were done and only few issues remaining for the player to say goodbye to the Lubaga based side.
“Both clubs completed the negotiations, and what the player wanted, few things are remaining for the player to be released, and I think in 48 hours, the paper work will be done.” Said Mugabi.
Reliable sources also indicate that the Uganda’s Champions have more two players likely to join them as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the zonal qualifiers.
The sources say, the negotiations are on final stage.
In other Club’s news, the Masindi based side resumed training on 1st June, 2021 and according to the club, 15 of the 16 players who were at Njeru reported back for training.
The loaned players also returned back to the club, the likes of of forward, Norah Alupo, Nahimana Esta, goalkeeper, Namaganda Esther, Irene Akiror, Ajwang Veronica and Halima Katushabe.
