Pepsi UFL: Seeta University Defensive Discipline, ‘Invisible hand’ Frustrate 2026 Finalists
By Kayiira Jackson
Seeta University produced a disciplined defensive display to frustrate last season’s finalists YMCA Institute in a goalless draw in the Pepsi University Football League on October 27, 2026.
Seeta University announced their arrival on the university football stage with an impressive defensive performance, holding YMCA Institute to a 0-0 draw despite enduring relentless pressure throughout the encounter.
YMCA, popularly known as the Chartered Boys, dominated much of the contest and created several clear-cut scoring opportunities but were repeatedly denied by the woodwork, wasteful finishing and the outstanding goalkeeping of Kalungi.
The hosts started brightly and nearly broke the deadlock in the sixth minute when Mugerwa Labison struck the crossbar, setting the tone for what would become a frustrating afternoon in front of goal.
YMCA continued to pile pressure on the visitors, with Azizi Muhammad missing a golden opportunity in the 15th minute after finding himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
Seeta, however, remained organised at the back, with Obonyo producing an important block to deny Kisule Isa in the 20th minute. Five minutes later, Azizi dribbled past Obonyo to create an opening for Mugerwa, but Tumusiime Sam intervened with a timely clearance to preserve the visitors’ clean sheet.

The Chartered Boys continued to squander opportunities as Kisule fired wide into an unguarded net in the 30th minute. Azizi then struck the woodwork in the 35th minute before Kalungi produced a fine save to deny Mugerwa five minutes later.
Despite YMCA’s attacking dominance, Seeta held on to reach half-time with the score still goalless.
The visitors returned from the break with greater attacking intent, pushing more players forward in search of an opening. However, they struggled to penetrate YMCA’s defensive structure as the hosts attempted to maintain their momentum.
Kisule came close again in the 55th minute, heading narrowly wide, before Kalungi delivered another outstanding save to deny Ssemanda Ali at the far post in the 60th minute.
As the match progressed, Seeta’s confidence grew. Their compact defensive shape and disciplined approach frustrated the hosts, while Kalungi continued to inspire his teammates with a series of crucial interventions.
By the 70th minute, the debutants were growing stronger and more assured, leaving YMCA struggling to find spaces in the final third. The contest opened up in the closing stages, with both sides exchanging attacks as the visitors remained committed to protecting their goal.

YMCA appeared to have found a breakthrough in the 80th minute, but Olara Brian produced a crucial goal-line clearance to deny Ssemanda and keep Seeta in the contest.
With five minutes remaining, the Chartered Boys continued to search desperately for a winner, but Seeta’s defensive resilience proved unbreakable.
The final whistle confirmed a goalless draw that will feel like a victory for the debutants, who demonstrated remarkable discipline and determination against last season’s finalists.
