Women Football: Kawempe Flagged off to Njeru, HM Wants a Trophy

Kampala :Kawempe Muslim Ladies Football Club becomes the first team to officially be flagged off to FUFA Technical Center Njeru for the forthcoming Women Super League.

The contingent of twenty, 18 Players and two officials have been flagged off by the Giant School’s head teacher, Hajji Bruhan Mugerwa on Saturday morning at Kawempe Muslim Secondary School.

Hajji Bruhan says that Kawempe is a winning team, they have never sent their soldiers and fail to deliver, again he asked them to lift the glory of women football Giants in Uganda by winning the 2021 title in Njeru.

“Previously this school was known as education Giants, but we have included the sports wing, many students come here for a vacancy, now not because of education but because of football, they see Juliets, Sandra’s booming. So they came here because they want to be like them.” Hajji Bruhan Mugerwa in his preamble.

“We have never sent you and failed to accomplish the mission, even today I am sending you to go and bring that trophy back. Yes we are in a new normal of COVID-19 but again we can do better because we have adapted the situation.” He stated.

Like any other school, Bruhan is saying that Kawempe was also financially affected but they couldn’t afford to let their talents down.

“It has been a tough challenge, remember we a school, and we have been not teaching but we had to find all ways to see that our girls are in good shape for them to perform well.”

As this website stated before, Ayubu Khalifa Kiyingi, the Club’s tactician will not be with them and today they officially announced Moses Nkata as the head coach in this tournament, Captain is Nantongo Aisha and her assistant is Shakirah Nyinagahirwa.

“I have a huge task ahead of me, almost all the captains who have been at Kawempe managed to win a silverware, so I also need to emulate the same. I and my team we going to work together to see that we lift that title as the head teacher stated.” New Team Captain, Aisha Nantongo told this website after the flag off.

The team had traveled to FUFA House Mengo for COVID-19 tests and then they will move to Njeru on Sunday.

Kawempe Muslim is in group one with Kampala Queens, Tooro Queens, Makerere University WFC, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC.

The Valley Warriors will kick off their journey to podium on Monday evening against Kampala Queens.
