Volleyball: We going to Make This Sport More Vibrant Like Basketball- VP Elect
Nkumba University Volleyball club manager, Salma Kairungi elected as the second Vice President in the just concluded Uganda Volleyball Federation elections which were held at Hockey grounds at Lugogo Sports Complex.
In the elections that attracted a huge number of delegates at Lugogo yesterday, Salmah Kairungi managed to be her two competitors on the second vice president position, the beautiful soft-spoken administrator gunned 129 votes beating Kalangala District woman MP-Elect Helen Nakimuli (115) and Faridah Nalinya (38).
After being announced as the winner, Salma revealed that her and the executive members elected, shall make sure that volleyball become more vibrant in the country that it has ever been.
She is saying that they want the sport to acquire the new face, image and be vibrant like basketball.
“We want to make volleyball vibrant like basketball” she said before adding “it’s going to be vibrant like basketball because this is a breed of new fresh air, we going to give it a new face, going to give it a new image, we going to go out more and involve everyone, we going to it more visible” Second vice President elect promised.
As an individual using her new position, Salma wants to bring more ladies in the sport such that they level the ground with men, and she says that her first task is to make consultations to different stakeholders in the sport to get to know their challenges and how to solve them.
“I am going to make consultations, I am going to consult different people because I need to know what exactly pressing them.
We all have different challenges, so that’s one of the things I am going to do, I want us to come together and get more ladies into the game.” VP elect explaining.
Sadiq Nasiwu elected the President of Uganda Volleyball federation and he is to be deputized by Ahmed K Abdullah as first vice and Salma Kairungi.
