USSSA Kitende Zone Qualifier: Nkoola’s Late Strike Wins it for SMASK

St Mary’s Boarding School 1-0 Light High Secondary School
Nkoola Arafat late strike won St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School a Kitende zone trophy in the final honored on Wednesday at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
It was a match of vibes from the pitch to the stands with Light High School looked a real threat but St Mary’s was found ready for challenge.
Minute to minute the Giants of Kitende kept growing in the game despite Light High solid defence.
Chances were created by either sides and St Mary’s finding the net twice but we’re unlucky on both occasions when the goals were cancelled.
Light High School were spot on, with Bernard Bagambe, Ali Isabirye and Derick Malinga being the greatest threat to St Mary’s back but their resilience was tamed by the second booking to Mwanje Hillary.
Before the game getting decided by Arafat Nkoola strike,Olimi Nyarwa had a cross taking almost the Light High SS entire defence from left flank off and found Nkoola in a well positioned place to tap in the winner.
After a hard-fought win the reigning champions, St Mary’s Boarding School announced the winner of Kitende Zone and it is the third consecutive time beating Light High Secondary School at the same stage.
Both St Mary’s Boarding School and Light High Secondary School have qualified to Wakiso region where they will fight for slots to Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association national championship.
The regional qualifiers are scheduled to take place on 9th April 2024 with Nadangira Zone hosting.
