USSSA Kampala Region Qualifiers: Kibuli, Uganda Martyrs Remain the City Bosses

Uganda Martyrs High School 1-0 Kawempe Muslim SS 

The Kampala region qualifiers for the 2024 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association championship climaxed on Friday at Kibuli SS. 

Kibuli SS and Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga continued to proved they are still the real giants in the City in both Male and Female football competitions. 

Like they did the previous year at Mengo Senior School, Uganda Martyrs again beat Kawempe Muslim SS on the final of girls football, thanks to Latifah Nakasi thunderbolt strike that came in the first stanza of the encounter watched by many at Kibuli SS on Friday. 

In boy’s football, Kibuli SS also retained their trophy after beating Kawempe Muslim 7-6 via spot kicks following a one all draw in normal time. 

Kitiibwa Alvin first handed Kawempe Muslim a lead in the first stanza but his goal was cancelled by Ssebunya Alfred far post strike in the second stanza. 

In spot kicks, Kitiibwa Alvin missed his penalty after striking the ball on the crossbar and then forward, Kateregga Safi had the last kick of the day and it found the back of the net to send Kibuli students into crazy celebrations. 

Kibuli also won the basketball trophy for men while the girls’ category was won by Nabisunsa Girls. 

In Girls football, Kawempe region will be represented by Uganda Martyrs (champion), Kawempe Muslim SS and Highland SS who beat Gaddafi Integrated Academy 1-0 on the 3rd place playoff. 

In boys, the region shall have; Kibuli SS (Champion), Kawempe Muslim SS, Kakungulu Memorial, Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga and Old Kampala (pending).
