USSSA Greater Mukono Qualifiers: St Julian Off to Quarters as Group Stage Action Climaxes

The Greater Mukono Region Qualifiers for the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association championship commenced on Saturday at three different playgrounds. 

The Group stage action climaxed on the same day and the Mukono District finalists, St Julian High School topped group D with seven points and qualified to quarterfinals slated to be honored on Sunday at Allied Teachers playground. 

Julian managed to win two games and drew one. The Felix Ssekabuuza coached side thumped MT Camel from Kayunga 8-0 in the group opener before they drew 1-1 against the second placed side, St John’s High School Kauga. 

Goal poacher, Simon Wanyama scored a brace, Ssevume Simone appeared on the score sheet twice, Jjemba Gideon, Ssenkusu Patrick, Mukasa Elisa and Obale Rogers (goalkeeper) all scored in the eight goal gallow. 

In the one all draw, Ivorex Kalungi scored for St John’s while Mwebe Disan netted for Julian.

In their last group fixture, the Greater Mukono Region title contenders, St Julian beat Rehaboth 3-0, thanks to goals from Eric Isabirye, Simon Wanyama and Ssekate James. 

St Julian and St John’s High School made it out of  group D. 

Quarter finals, semis and final shall be played on Sunday at Allied Teachers Playgrounds.

Greater Mukono Region shall be represented by three teams in the nationals set to be held at Masaka SS late this month.
