USSSA Games 2024: St Julian Catches Regular Competitors on Wrong Foot,Now on the Table of Top Four

Predicting the debutants, St Julian High School from Seeta that it will be among the best four in Masaka, it was like committing suicide. 

However, working behind the lights, St Julian propelled through to the semifinal of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association championship after beating all odds.

The Felix Ssekabuuza coached side proved to the world that though they are debutants, they have potential to challenge for the title after eliminating the hosts, Masaka SS via spot kicks, 3-2 on quarterfinal. The normal time went goalless. 

For starters, the chemistry that would be behind the success of St Julian is the longevity of her squad being together since primary school time, almost 65% of their squad are graduates of Rays of Grace Academy, they’re the winners of 2019 Odilo championship. 

That chemistry is part of the driving factor that has brought St Julian at the table big boys.

Many didn’t put attention on the team and that pulled the pressure off the boys.

Now they are up for another task as they will be facing another championship debutant in Bukedea Comprehensive at the semifinal to determine which side that will reach final in their history. 

The holders, St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende beat the most loved school in Masaka, Blessed Sacrament Kimanya by 2-0, thanks to Issa Bugembe and Ronald Madoi strikes.

St Mary’s will be playing Jinja Progressive Academy who beat the petitioners, Amus College, 3-0 in the quarter final fixture honored in the evening.
