USSSA Elite Games: Kitende Send a Serious Warning to Rivals After Demolishing Hosts
By Kayiira Jackson
St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende continued their dominant run at the ongoing Elite Games with a commanding 120–08 victory over hosts Janan Secondary School Bombo on Saturday in Bombo.
Played before a home crowd at Janan Secondary School grounds, the encounter quickly turned into a one-sided affair as Kitende stamped their authority from the opening whistle.
Kitende stormed to a 30–02 lead at the end of the first quarter, setting the tone for what would become a relentless attacking display. By halftime, they had extended the margin to 66–05, effectively putting the contest beyond the hosts’ reach.
The dominance continued in the third quarter, with Kitende stretching the score to 90–07 before sealing a comprehensive 120–08 win at full time.
The victory marks Kitende’s second triumph of the tournament. In their opening fixture, they overcame Namagabi Secondary School 59–25, a result that propelled them to the top of the standings with four points.
Janan Secondary School’s struggles continue, having earlier suffered a heavy 103–03 defeat to defending champions Buddo Secondary School.
Attention now shifts to Sunday’s highly anticipated showdown between Kitende and Buddo SS. The clash between the two giants is expected to determine the leader in the round-robin format tournament and could serve as an early statement of intent in this year’s championship.
Meanwhile, Buddo SS are set to face Namagabi SS in the final game of the day as the Elite Games action intensifies in Bombo.
