UPL: ‘The cock gets Lost in Kasasiro’, KCCA Register Maiden Away Victory as Soltilo returns to Winning Ways
In the two early kick off games played on Friday in the Startimes Uganda Premier League, KCCA FC secured their first away win of the season after beating SC Villa 2-1 while Soltilo Bright Stars edged UPDF FC 2-1 to get back to winning ways.
In wankulukuku, Ettiene Katenga and Ashraf Mugume netted for KCCA FC while Charles Lwanga scored the consolation for SC Villa.
In 15th minute, Gui crossed the ball inside the box and Mugume failed to score from the first touch but Ettiene Katenga scored on the lose ball to put the visitors in the lead.
Ten minutes later, Ashraf Mugume doubled the lead with a spectacular shot. Joel Sserunjogi’s shot wasn’t good enough but found Mugume inside the box who made no mistake but put the ball at the back of the net.
In the 31st minute, Hakim Kiwanuka almost pulled one back but was denied by goalkeeper Derrick Ochan to award a corner to SC Villa and Charles Lwanga scored with a beautiful header to give the hosts hope.
Three minutes later, defender Mustafah Mujjuzi made a mistake and Hakim Kiwanuka sneaked past him but failed to beat the goalkeeper as his touch went out.
Immediately into the second half, Patrick Kakande nearly netted the equalized after beating his marker but his powerful shot was denied by goalkeeper Derrick Ochan.
In the 56th minute, Mugume almost stretched the lead but his well taken free kick was raffled the post.
In the last 10 minutes, Abasi Kyeyune failed to find the equalizer after Ngonde’s beautiful low cross but Kyeyune’s header lacked power.
The win took KCCA FC to 10th position with 13 points while SC Villa remained 6th on the log with 19 points.
In the next game, KCCA FC will visit UPDF FC on 28th December and SC Villa will also visit Wakiso Giants on 30th December.
Elsewhere, Soltilo Bright Stars edged UPDF FC 2-1 in Kavumba to get back to winning ways. Samuel Kato Nemiyimana and Nelson Ssenkatuka scored for Soltilo while Rashidi Faridi scored the consolation for the visitors.
After losing the previous game 3-0 to KCCA FC, Samuel Kato Nemiyimana scored in the 13th minute and his goal was cancelled by Rashidi Faridi’s equalizer in the 55th minute before goal poacher Nelson Ssenkatuka restored the lead in the 70th minute that turned into the winning goal.
The November player of the month Nelson Ssenkatuka, has nine goals so far this season and leading the top scorer’s chat.
Soltilo Bright Stars are now 9th with 14 points while UPDF FC remained in the relegation zone at the 15th position with 9 points from 12 games.
In the next game, UPDF FC will host KCCA FC on 28th December while on the following day, Soltilo Bright Stars will visit NEC FC.
In the late kick off to be played at 7PM in Kitende, Vipers SC hosts BUL FC in the battle for top spot position.
