University Football League is Back, Draws Held, Starts Next Month

After two years of rest due to COVID-19 pandemic that put the world on standstill, the famous university football league is back with the additional of more two universities.

The University Football League as a brand is celebrating a decade of being in action and this tenth edition they had one more l University joining, that is Victoria University and two returned back after a while that is Makerere University and Ndejje University but Kampala International University didn’t make it this season with a reason not given.

That means, the 2022 edition that commences on Tuesday, 05th April 2022 will have 22 Universities competing for one trophy.

Today at Kati Kati Restaurant Lugogo, the draws were held and the 22 teams were pitted in six groups of four and three teams.

While addressing media, the Uganda University Sports Association president, Peninah Kabenge asserted that it’s a pleasure to see University football back after two years of Covid and as a tutor at Makerere University, she is happy that her university is back after four years of Bab due to hooliganism.

It feels good for Makerere to be back in the league and am sure the players who were more affected are surely happy.
We are working around the clock to see that we don’t have hooliganism in the league again,we don’t want to see it happening again especially when we are celebrating ten years of university football league. ” Penina Kabenge.

According to Patrick Ssebuliba one of the Organizing Committee members, the league will climax in November this year but the venue will be communicated towards the final.
